The 28th International Youth Forum

 

Call for Participants on Strengthening Regional Cooperation through Youth Exchange

 

 

1. Objectives

 

  1. To increase youth’s understanding of global issues, offering an opportunity to tackle them and to find alternative ways or solutions.

  2. To improve cooperation and enhance mutual understanding among youths across cultures and nationalities.

  3. To spread goodwill around the world and to build interactive global citizenship through networking among youths.

 

2. Date and Venue

 

Date: 23rd~30th August, 2017.

Venue: Seoul and Muju, Republic of Korea.

 

3. Theme

 

 “Strengthening Regional Cooperation through Youth Exchange”

 

Sub-themes:

- Youth Exchanges in Culture, Arts, and Sports and Regional Cooperation

- Youth Volunteerism and Regional Community

- Online Youth Exchanges and Regional Partnership

   ※ All participants will be assigned to smaller working groups under the main theme

 

【The Background of Theme of the Forum

Amidst the current flow of economic and cultural globalization, a clear trend toward regionalism or regional cooperation in various parts of the world is being witnessed. Reconciling these two seeming contrasting trends remains an interesting challenge. Using an interactive and participative approach, this year’s Forum will create opportunities for participants to share their experiences and ideas on how youth cooperation can contribute to a successful and simultaneous pursuit of globalization and regional cooperation.

 

4. Organizers

 

A. Host: The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the Republic of Korea (MOGEF)

B. Organizer: The National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea (NCYOK)

C. Sponsor: World Assembly of Youth (WAY), Asian Youth Council (AYC)

 

5. Participants

 

  1. Overseas participants: 70 delegates

  2. Korean participants: 10 delegates

  3. Organizing Committee: 10 persons

    The organizer (NCYOK) will provide 600,000KRW (about 500USD) grant for travel cost (airfare) to the participants from Africa, Oceania, Europe, and American regions and 300,000KRW (about250USD) grant to the participants from partial Asia regions.

 

Note

- The applicants who can afford own travel cost will be first considered to be admitted

- The applicants who are willing to present case study on the current situation of regional cooperation in the world in terms of good or bad point of view.

 

  1. NCYOK bears the expenses of accommodation, meals, and local transportation during the forum.

 

7. Application and Required Documents

 

  1. Application closing date is the 17th July (Mon), 2017 (Korea Time)

    * Admission decision will be determined and informed within 7 days from the closing date by e-mail.

     

  2. Applicants need to submit:

1) A completed application

2) An English essay

: A4, 1~2 pages, font 12, Times New Roman, single-spaced, Title: ‘Strengthening Regional Cooperation through Youth Exchange’
